In Case You Missed These …

15 January 2009

It’s hard to keep up with all of the great stuff the children’s literature/reading/literacy bloggers are sharing. All those new year’s resolutions are well underway.

There’s the blog tour for the Sydney Taylor Book Award winners (this week and next).

Elaine Magliaro (Wild Rose Reader) pointed us to Grace Lin’s Small Graces Auction.  This week, and one week each month in 2009, Grace Lin will auction original artwork to benefit the Foundation for Children’s Books.  Get more details in Elaine’s post.

Blogger extraordinaire Anastasia Suen has a new Activities for Homeschoolers page at Lee and Low’s new Homeschooling microsite. These aren’t your collage-on-the-shoebox ideas. They are very cool.

Have you made your Inauguration plans? Want to do something that will make this a memorable inauguration for a reader-in-need? Then visit Anne-Marie at My Readable Feast. She has all  you need to know about donating to Reading is Presidential, a RIF campaign to get books to kids in DC. In case you weren’t aware, education stats last spring tell us that 67% of fourth graders don’t meet basic reading standards.

Last but not least, Lee Wind tried valiantly to run to ground the origin of the “Premio Dardas” award, which is making its way around the blogosphere.  In thanking the “academy” and acknowledging the award, he reminded us that we share awards every day: through our blogrolls.  Bravo! Encore!
